Ravenswood, Lincoln Square & the North Shore
Get an Eric, LLC is a licensed general contractor based in Ravenswood on Chicago’s North Side, proudly serving homeowners throughout Chicago’s North Side neighborhoods and the North Shore suburbs. Whether you’re planning a kitchen remodel, bathroom renovation, basement finish, or whole-home renovation, our team brings the same level of care and craftsmanship to every project.
We focus our work locally so we can stay closely involved with every project. That means responsive service, accurate estimates, consistent oversight, and a team that actually knows the homes, building codes, and permit processes in each community we serve. We are not a contractor who spreads thin across a 100-mile radius. We are a neighborhood-level contractor who shows up, communicates, and finishes what we start.
Our service area spans neighborhoods and suburbs with very different housing stock, and we are experienced with all of it. Understanding how a home was built is the first step to renovating it correctly. Here is what we see across the communities we serve:
In Chicago’s North Side neighborhoods like Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, Andersonville, and Irving Park, the housing stock dates primarily from the 1880s through the 1930s. These homes include Queen Anne Victorians with ornate woodwork and complex floor plans, American Foursquares with wide front porches and box-frame construction, Craftsman homes with original built-ins and leaded glass, classic Chicago two-flats and three-flats with shared hallways and separate mechanical systems, brick bungalows from the 1920s with low-slung rooflines and full basements, and courtyard apartment buildings with vintage details. Each of these building types has its own structural characteristics, its own common problems, and its own set of considerations when it comes to renovation.
In the North Shore suburbs like Evanston, Wilmette, Winnetka, Skokie, Glenview, and Park Ridge, the housing stock shifts to a mix of larger Victorians and Prairie-style homes near transit corridors, mid-century ranches and split-levels with full basements and original kitchens, colonials and Tudors on generous lots, and newer construction from the 1990s and 2000s. These homes tend to have fewer surprises behind the walls than pre-war Chicago buildings, but they still require a contractor who understands the construction methods and materials used in each era.
No matter the style, era, or location, we approach every home the same way: assess the existing conditions, identify what needs to be addressed behind the walls before any finish work begins, and deliver a result that holds up.
Homeowners across our service area rely on us for high-quality residential remodeling services, including kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, and whole-home renovations. We also offer exterior renovations and handyman services for smaller projects. Every project is approached with clear communication, careful planning, and workmanship designed to hold up over time.
We regularly work with homeowners across Chicago’s North Side. Our service area includes:
In addition to Chicago’s North Side, we serve homeowners across the North Shore suburbs. Each suburb has its own building department, permit process, and architectural character. We are familiar with the requirements in each community and handle permitting as part of every project.
Every project starts the same way, no matter which neighborhood or suburb your home is in. Here is how we work:
We visit your home, walk through the space, discuss your goals, and provide a detailed written estimate. No pressure, no vague numbers. You will know the scope, the cost, and the expected timeline before any commitment.
Once you are ready to move forward, we handle the planning details. That includes material selection, trade coordination, and pulling the necessary permits. In Chicago, many projects qualify for the Easy Permit Process through the Department of Buildings. In the North Shore suburbs, we work with each village’s building department directly. Either way, you do not have to manage any of it.
We start by addressing what is behind the walls. In older homes, this is where we find and fix aging plumbing, outdated electrical, moisture issues, and structural concerns. This is the most important phase of any renovation in a vintage home, and it is where cutting corners costs you the most down the road.
With the infrastructure solid, we move into the finish work: cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, fixtures, lighting, and trim. We coordinate every trade so the work flows in the right sequence and the end result is clean, professional, and built to last.
Before we call a project complete, we do a walkthrough with you to make sure everything meets your expectations. We also coordinate final inspections with the city or village to make sure the work is signed off and fully permitted.
Working with a local contractor means more than convenience. It means your remodel is handled by a team that understands:
